Prospan bronchial syrup should be used in children under the age of 2 only after consulting a health care professional. Compared with older children this age group should be monitored very carefully when being given prospan bronchial syrup as particular attention must be paid to possible diarrhoea and vomiting.
DIRECTIONS:
12 YEARS-ADULTS: 5 ml three times daily.
CHILDREN 6-12 YRS: 5 ml twice daily.
CHILDREN 2-6 YRS: 2.5 ml twice daily.
It is recommended that you should keep taking Prospan bronchial syrup for 2-3 days after your symptoms have disappeared. If you have the impression that the effect of Prospan is too strong or too weak, talk to your health care professional.
Do not exceed the recommended daily dose. Ingestion of significantly higher amounts (more than 3 times a day) may lead to nausea, vomiting or diarrhoea. In this case you should consult your healthcare professional.
5ml of syrup contains 1.93g of sugar substitute sorbitol.
Prospan syrup is free from alcohol, sugar and gluten.
SIDE EFFECTS:
Like medicines Prospan bronchial syrup can cause side effects although not everybody gets them.
Vary rare:
allergic reactions such as shortness of breath, swelling, skin redness or itching may occur after taking products containing Ivy leaf extract.
Uncommon:
In sensitive patients gastrointestinal complaints such as nausea, vomiting and diarrhoea may occur and there may be a laxative effect due the the sorbitol content.
